Supports a 24-hour, toll-free accredited crisis intervention program for older adults and dependent adults with disabilities. Hours are shown in Pacific Time. Center becomes crisis-only between 9pm and 7am and calls will be screened. 800-971-0016

Eligibility: Seniors age 60 years and over or dependent adults with disabilities. Adults Females Males

Application Process: Anyone may contact Institute on Aging for help, but most of the people who need services cannot easily do so on their own, usually because of dementia, frailty or disability. Family (often there is none) may not know where to begin. For these reasons the Institute on Aging welcomes referrals from social workers, discharge planners, physicians and other professionals. Individuals who want to call the Friendship Line are not required to go through a formal application process. They may simply dial our toll free number from anywhere in the US 1-800-871-0016. To arrange for regular outgoing calls, please go through IOA Connect at (415) 750-4111.
