The Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly known as Section 8) assists low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled in paying for decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. The Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opened periodically on an as needed basis. When the waiting list is re-opened, a public announcement is placed in area newspapers and information posted on the Regional Housing Authority's website. Participants must be on the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist. Participants do not need to be in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Eligibility: must be between the ages of 18 and 61, and disabled, and meet income requirements.
