Local mental health authority provides behavioral health services and is responsible for administering all Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) contract funded behavioral health services in Southeastern Connecticut. Programs and services are recovery focused and help people who experience psychiatric disabilities manage their symptoms and achieve their own vision of healthy and productive lives as citizens of their communities. Through access to a continuum of treatment and support services, persons can achieve the goal of a meaningful and quality life including stable housing, employment, higher education, and access to health care. SMHA serves the towns of Bozrah, Colchester, East Lyme, Franklin, Griswold, Groton, Ledyard, Lisbon, Montville, New London, North Stonington, Norwich, Preston, Salem, Sprague, Stonington, Voluntown, and Waterford. Services include mobile crisis, community outreach and intervention teams, mental health case management, residential support programs, mental health advocacy and outpatient services.
