Description

Over the phone CalFresh (Food Stamps) eligibility and enrollment assistance. CalFresh provides resources for people in need to shop for groceries at most markets and farmers’ markets using an EBT card (similar to a debit card). CalFresh is designed to help families buy more healthy and nutritious food.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Low-income individuals and families whose household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (effective as of January 2024). Must have at least one US citizen or permanent resident in the household.

Income-Based Eligibility Guidelines (valid 10/1/24 - 9/30/25):
Household size of 1: monthly income of $2,510; annual income of $30,120
Household size of 2: monthly income of $3,407; annual income of $40,880
Household size of 3: monthly income of $4,303; annual income of $51,640
Household size of 4: monthly income of $5,200; annual income of $62,400
Household size of 5: monthly income of $6,097; annual income of $73,160
Household size of 6: monthly income of $6,993; annual income of $83,920
Household size of 7: monthly income of $7,890; annual income of $94,680
Household size of 8: monthly income of $8,787; annual income of $105,440

Add $898 for each additional person in the household.


You may qualify for "Expedited Service" if the cost of your housing and utilities is more than this month's income combined with the number of your liquid resources such as cash and savings accounts. Or you may qualify if your cash, savings, stocks, etc. are worth no more than $100 and this month's income is less than $150. Or you may qualify if you are a migrant or seasonal farmworker and have $100 or less in cash. Payment methods:
Program Fees: No fee.
Documents Required: When applying have the following items available: Social Security number for person applying, all bank account numbers, dollar amounts of rent and utility payments, and an email address (email is optional). Submission of other documents may be required to CalFresh after submitting the application.
Normal Wait Time: The county has up to 30 days to approve or deny your application. If you need food before 30 days you may be eligible for Expedited Services.
