Description

The California Department of Rehabilitation provides employment services for people with disabilities and students with disabilities who want to prepare for, get, or keep a job.

Services include:

  • Vocational rehabilitation for adults with disabilities who face barriers to employment
  • Career counseling, job placement, and job training
  • Workplace accommodations and assistive technology
  • Student Services for youth with disabilities ages 16–21 who are enrolled in school (including those on break or not yet started)
  • Job exploration, work readiness, and self-advocacy for students
  • Specialized services for people who are blind or deaf
  • Independent living services for people with disabilities

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Vocational Rehabilitation is for people with a documented disability who want to work and need help to get or keep a job.
Student Services are for students ages 16–21 with a disability, IEP, 504 Plan, or those considered eligible based on observations or history. Adults Females Males
Languages: Rehabilitation can authorize the services of interpreters, including sign language interpreters, when necessary., English
Application Process: Complete online application at www.dor.ca.gov, or come into the office for an application, or contact office so they may mail you an application. Individuals who complete the application will be scheduled for an intake interview. At the time of the intake interview, relevant medical records can be requested.
