Program Delivery
Eligibility: To be eligible for this program, a household must:
- Reside in Nevada County
- Have a total gross income between 30% and 80% of the Nevada County area median income (AMI)
- Demonstrate a need for housing (examples include substandard housing, overcrowding, or cost burden)
- Show the ability to make affordable monthly mortgage payments
- Commit to 500 hours of sweat equity, including construction and/or organizational support tasks
- Participate in interviews and home visits as part of the selection process Adults Families Females Males

Application Process: When Habitat is ready to select more families for the homeownership program, they hold an orientation meeting to discuss eligibility criteria, the application process, and supplemental documents that applicants need to assemble. At this time, Habitat will provide applications and outline important dates and deadlines.
Payment methods:
Program Fees: There is no fee to apply. If selected, a family will purchase their home for a 1% down payment and make a monthly mortgage payment that is 30% or less of their monthly income. The will also be required to contribute 500 hours of Sweat Equity.
