Description
The Office of Payee Review and Beneficiary Assistance (OPRABA) provides oversight, support, and education related to Social Security representative payees.
Services include:
- Conducting reviews of representative payees to ensure proper use of beneficiary funds
- Offering training and educational visits to representative payees
- Providing information and referrals to beneficiaries and their families
- Assisting with initial onsite assessments for fee-for-service organizations
- Supporting corrective action plans where needed
- Helping beneficiaries who want to transition to managing their own benefits
OPRABA investigates concerns about misuse of funds and educates payees on their responsibilities.
