The Truckee Police Department provides patrol, investigations, traffic, marine operations, reserves, and volunteers in Police Services (VIPS). The police department also offers information on Disaster Preparedness with resources on how to be prepared in case of an emergency. The Support Services Division includes Animal Services, Downtown Parking District, Property & evidence, and Records.

The Town of Truckee Police Department also provides the safe disposal of unwanted or expired prescription medications. Medications must be in the original containers, not larger than 5 inches high or 3 inches in diameter. Remove confidential information, leaving only the name of the medication. No illegal drugs.
