Description

HOMELESS PREVENTION PROGRAM: Program works with the Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services to screen for intimate partner violence, review eligibility for rapid rehousing, or other permanent housing options. The program allows for the name of the victim to be kept confidential for the rehousing process. Services are available to victims of intimate partner violence or sexual violence residing in Baltimore City only. Provides transportation assistance, groceries assistance, bus or train tickets to flee/relocate, help with moving expenses, offers aid to secure lock changes, and assist with documentation fees such as ID or birth certificates.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Individuals must be a Baltimore City resident or homeless in Baltimore City and a victim of intimate partner or sexual violence. Individuals must be experiencing homelessness as a result of the violence. Must be a victim of IPV incident in the last six months; and must be homeless or imminently homeless due to the IPV experienced.
Languages: Farsi, Punjabi, Spanish, Urdu
Application Process: Complete an in person or phone interview with HRM staff. To refer an eligible individual, send an email with the subject “VCE Referral [Your Organization]” to vce@hruthmd.org. Include in email the individual's name, date of birth, family size, contact information, including contact restrictions, current location, housing barriers, and Victim Coordinated Entry services requested.

Documents Required: Staff will help individuals obtain necessary documents as needed.
Normal Wait Time: Typically it takes 30-60 days to move from homelessness to being housed.
