Description

The Arrearage Management Plan (AMP) provides debt forgiveness for eligible Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) customers with past due balances. 

For each on-time payment made over a 12-month period, a portion of the customer’s past-due amount is forgiven.

Services include:

  • Monthly forgiveness of past-due balances for qualifying customers
  • Coordination with PG&E assistance programs such as CARE, FERA, REACH, and LIHEAP
  • Up to full debt forgiveness after 12 on-time monthly payments

Program Delivery
Eligibility: In order to be eligible for this plan, you must be a residential customer and meet all the following eligibility requirements. You must:

- Be enrolled in one of PG&E's financial assistance programs, CARE or FERA.
- Owe at least $500 or more on your gas and electric bill, or owe at least $250 or more on your gas bill (applies to gas-only customers).
- Be more than 90 days past due.
- Be a PG&E customer for at least 6 months, and have made at least one on-time payment. Adults Families Females Males

Application Process: Fill out out an online application at www.pge.com/care or enroll via phone or request for an application via mail by calling PG&E at 1-877-660-6789
Payment methods:
Program Fees: Free
Documents Required: No proof of income required when applying for CARE. However, CARE customers may be randomly notified via PG&E letter to provide proof of income during their certification period.

CARE customer are asked to follow the instructions on the letter by listing all members of your household. Complete the form. Then, provide copies of income documents for every member of your household with an income. When you’re finished, mail or fax the completed form and documents to the CARE Program in the envelope provided.
