Description
Nevada County Public Health coordinates free, anonymous distribution of naloxone (Narcan) and fentanyl test strips through county programs and community partners.
Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid overdoses, and is available to both the general public and Behavioral Health clients.
Pick-up sites include public health locations, behavioral health offices, and designated partners throughout Eastern and Western Nevada County. Many sites do not require an appointment or identification.
Services include:
- Free naloxone (Narcan) kits and fentanyl test strips
- Anonymous access; no ID or registration required at most locations
- Pharmacy guidance for over-the-counter naloxone purchases
- Referrals to harm reduction and overdose prevention services

Additional notes:
Many pharmacies carry naloxone without a prescription, including Walgreens and Rite Aid in Grass Valley. Prices without insurance range from $125-$150. Call ahead to confirm stock and policy.
