Description
Ready to Grow (R2G) offers help in accessing and completing developmental screenings. It provides information to parents, guardians, caregivers, and childcare providers about programs and services that support the health and well-being of children 0 to 5 years of age. Being a program of First 5 Nevada County, it is for Nevada County residents only.
To learn about Ready to Grow resources, you can call 2-1-1 or 833-342-5211. The Call Agent will ask questions to find out what your needs are, and then focus on resources that are most likely to meet those needs.
The conversation addresses questions such as:
Does your family have a pediatrician for your child or children?
Medical insurance?
A children's dentist?
Are your family’s nutritional needs being met?
Do you have any concerns about your child’s behavior?
What do you like to do for fun with your child or children?
Ready to Grow also offers the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ), which can help families understand where their child is developmentally. Ages & Stages is facilitated by a member of the PARTNERS Family Resource Center, which works with clients in a more case-management style relationship.
ASQs are currently offered to children participating in the PARTNERS Family Resource Center's community playgroups, which are weekly play-meetings for children 0 to 5 years of age. Playgroups are currently held in the Penn Valley and North San Juan areas, with mobile services also available in Grass Valley. Playgroup details, including times and locations, can be found on the PARTNERS Family Resource Center's playgroups webpage.
211 has many resources for families with young children, and Ready to Grow is one of the most successful and popular programs among Nevada County families. Ready to Grow is not currently offered to Placer County residents.
