CARE and FERA are open to households with total gross annual income within the following ranges, based on household size:
1-2 people: $42,301-$52,875 3 people: $53,301-$66,625 4 people: $64,301-$80,375 5 people: $75,301-$94,125 6 people: $86,301-$107,875 7 people: $97,301-$121,625 8 people: $108,301-$135,375 9 people: $119,301-$149,125 10 people: $130,301-$162,875
Each additional person: add $11,000-$13,750
Income must be before taxes and based on current sources. Guidelines valid through May 31, 2026.
CARE is open to households that meet all of the following requirements:
- PG&E bill is in the name of the applicant or, for sub-metered tenants, in the name of the landlord - Applicant resides at the address receiving the discount - Applicant is not claimed as a dependent (other than by a spouse) on another person’s tax return - Energy meter is not shared with another home - Total household income falls within current CARE income guidelines - Participation in qualifying public assistance programs is required - May be asked to provide proof of income - May be required to join the Energy Savings Assistance program - Monthly electric usage must stay within six times the Tier 1 allowance - Must reverify eligibility every two years (or every four years for households on a fixed income) - Must notify PG&E if eligibility status changes Adults Families Females Males
