The Resource Family Approval (RFA) program ensures that all children live in committed, nurturing and permanent families. RFA establishes a new family-friendly and child-centered approval process for all related and non-related families seeking to care for children and youth in foster care.

Service Area:

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Single, married, and people with children or no children people can apply to be a foster parent. Must have application, background check and a combined home environment and psycho-social assessment.

Application Process: Call (805) 781-1705 for more information.

1. Make initial Contact with Department at (805) 781-1705 to receive an Information Packet.
2. Enroll in PRIDE classes. PRIDE classes must be completed before home approval can be given.
3. Work with your assigned home approval Social Worker to complete all required paper work, evaluations, and training. Social Worker will work closely with applicant each step of the way.
