Description
State of Connecticut offers financial assistance to eligible Medicare enrollees through the Medicare Savings Program. MSP program may help pay Medicare Part B premiums, deductibles and co-insurance. Eligible individuals (depending on income), DSS will pay the Medicare Part B premium each month. In addition, some enrollees will be covered for Medicare deductibles and co-insurance.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Income guidelines apply for each program: MSP eligibility guidelines effective March 2024 - As of March 1, 2024
**Not all earned income (income from wages) is counted toward eligibility; Connecticut does not have ANY asset/resources test
*QMB (Q01) - (Qualified Medicare Beneficiary):
*Pays both Medicare Part A and Part B premiums, deductibles and co-insurances. up to 211% FPL - Single $2,649 / monthly - Couple - $3,595/ monthly
*SLMB (Q03 - (Special Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary):
*Pays Medicare Part B premiums. up to 231% FPL -Single $2,900/ monthly - Couple $3,935/ monthly
*ALMB (Q04) - (Additional Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary):3,088 /monthly - Couple $4,191/ monthly


Application Process: You will need to renew (redetermination) your Medicare Savings Program every year. An application should be sent out by DSS. If you do not receive a notice in the mail to recertify, contact the DSS Benefits Center or go online to (MyAccount) www.connect.ct.gov. Apply by mail to the DSS ConneCT Scanning Center (call DSS Benefits Center Line to request an application) or in person at DSS regional offices
