Description
MyAccount is an online tool for current DSS clients to create an account to access certain information about their benefits or for new clients wanting to apply for benefits. Once a client is registered, information about their DSS benefits such as application status, benefits currently active, household members receiving benefits, and notification about any upcoming redeterminations can be viewed. DSS applications and forms are also available on this website and a pre-screening tool to check for eligibility for programs.  Clients can visit connect.ct.gov to access the website.

NOTE:  If clients forget password, there is an option on website, under Access Now, to reset a password

The following benefits can be applied for online, in addition to downloading an application and mailing it in, or visiting a DSS regional office. Individuals will be notified by mail, with the determination of their request:

Update 5/2022: New mobile-friendly application called MyDSS for use by client households throughout Connecticut.  MyDSS will help individuals access benefit information and interact with DSS anytime, anywhere, on any device! Unlike a traditional mobile application, you won’t find MyDSS on the app store. Individuals can visit www.mydss.ct.gov and save it as a shortcut to your phone.  Please see the FAQ at www.mydss.ct.gov for more guidance about how to save MyDSS to an iPhone or Android phone.

*SNAP
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, is a nutrition program that helps low-income individuals and families buy food. The Federal governments created the program to help people with low income eat well to stay healthy.
Medical
Connecticut has several health care programs that help residents get health care coverage:
* HUSKY A (for children under 19, parents, pregnant women, and adults who live with and take care of children who are related to them) - Connecticut children and their parents or a relative caregiver; and pregnant women may be eligible for HUSKY A (also known as Medicaid), depending on family income
*HUSKY B (for children under 19) - Uninsured children under age 19 in higher-income households may be eligible for HUSKY B (also known as the Children.s Health Insurance Program).  Depending on specific income level, family cost-sharing applies.
* HUSKY C (for people who are 65 or older, blind, or disabled) - - Connecticut residents aged 65 or older, or who are aged 18 through 64 and who are blind, or who have another disability, may qualify for coverage under HUSKY C (also known as Medicaid for the Aged/Blind/Disabled, or Title 19).
*HUSKY D (for low-income adults ages 19-64)  - Connecticut residents aged 19 through 64, who do not qualify for HUSKY A; who do not receive federal Supplemental Security Income or Medicare; and who are not pregnant, may qualify for HUSKY D (also known as Medicaid for Low-Income Adults).
*Medicare Savings Program - The Medicare Savings Programs (MSP), also known as Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB), Specified Low Income Beneficiary (SLMB) and Additional Low Income Beneficiary (ALMB), help pay for your Medicare premiums. QMB will also pay for your Medicare co-insurance and deductibles. We can only make the payment if the provider accepts Medicaid.
*Family Planning Services - Connecticut residents of any age who do not receive HUSKY may qualify for this program.  This program extends coverage for family planning services to individuals at no cost even if they already have private health insurance.
* Medicare Saving Programs
There are three Medicare Savings Programs (MSP) that help you pay for your Medicare Part B premiums. They are the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary program (QMB), the Special Low Income Medicare Beneficiary program (SLMB) and the Additional Low Income Medicare Beneficiary program (ALMB). A household.s income determines which category they qualify for. All three programs pay Medicare Part B premiums. QMB also pays Medicare co-pays and deductibles on Medicare-covered services. It does not cost anything to apply for or receive benefits from this program.
* Long-term Care services
'Long term services and supports' is also referred to as 'long-term care.'  Many people thought it exclusively meant nursing home care. It includes a variety of care and services over an extended period of time that can be provided in many settings including:
* In your home;
*At other sites in your community;
*In a managed residential setting; or
* In an institutional setting.
Your choice of provider care and services can make it possible for you to continue to live at home rather than in a nursing home or other type of residence.  Residential options are sometimes appropriate, however.  It really depends on your needs and circumstances.
Cash
Connecticut children and their parents or a relative caregiver; and pregnant women may be eligible for Temporary Family Assistance which is the name for the Jobs First cash assistance program paid to recipients.
*The State Supplement program gives money to help people with disabilities and the elderly meet basic living costs. These individuals must have a source of income such as Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) in order to qualify for assistance under the State Supplement program.
*SAGA Cash Assistance (SCA) gives money to help adults without children who are unable to work for medical reasons. The program also helps families who are not eligible for other department programs.
* Temporary Family Assistance (TFA) is a cash assistance program for basic and special needs which are paid to families with dependent children and pregnant women.
