Update 6/2021 - Cope - Mental Health Crisis Services for Adults and Children:

- Phone: 24 hours/7 days a week/365 days a year

- Mobile/In-person: 8 am - 8 pm, 7 days a week until July 2021; 8 am - 10 pm 7 days a week through summer 2021

6/2020:
Hennepin County COVID-19 CARES Act Funding
Emergency rental assistance and other housing costs assistance are available for Minneapolis and suburban Hennepin County residents. Visit website to apply. There is no deadline to apply.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Rent housing in Hennepin County
- Have household income below 50% of the area median income (about $46,550 for a household of three) before COVID-19
- Lost income due to COVID-19 that has not been replaced by unemployment insurance or other emergency assistance
- Can’t afford housing costs this month
- Are not receiving Section 8 or other ongoing rental assistance
- Priority will be given to households with the lowest incomes and those that are ineligible for Unemployment Insurance. Households with enough income to pay housing costs are not eligible.

Individuals who need help applying can call (612)302-3160.

Households that appear eligible will be contacted by a service provider to complete the application process, including collecting verification information.

6/2020: Emergency General Assistance (EGA)
Hennepin County emergency general assistance, aka EGA (for adults without dependents under age 18) update:
In an effort to assist our residents in getting current on their rent, we are increasing the limit of past due rent amount to $2,000 until 6/30/20. As we have the funds available in this fiscal year, we feel confident that we will be able to raise our limit for the past due balance and not risk running short on funds.
• The temporary policy change will be : Rental assistance available will be for no more than 2 months of arrearages or $2000, whichever is less.
• The policy will revert back to the $1000 limit on 07/01/20.

3/17/2020: Due to the State of Emergency declared for Hennepin County effective March 17 – April 6, all public facing services will be closed to walk-in traffic, including all Human Services Centers

3/27/2020:
Shelter Referrals:
All Shelter Team services will be offered by phone only. The Daytime and Afterhours staff will be manning the phones 7 days a week. Daytime hours are 8 am – 4:30 pm; Afterhours 1 pm – 11 pm. These hours overlap to accommodate staffing levels.

The Shelter Team will be utilizing phone, email, fax, and also have drop boxes available at each of their sites.

Continue to refer homeless families to the Shelter Team including individuals that have unique circumstances related to the epidemic. The Shelter Team is helping families work through these special case scenarios.

Eligibility has stayed the same - only serving families in Hennepin County.

3/22/2020: COPE: Not providing in-person response at this time due to COVID-19. Refer contacts to the ER if in serious need of mental health care services.
