Description
Provides a monthly cash grant to people who are aged, blind or disabled and who receive federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. Some individuals whose income is too high to receive SSI may be eligible for MSA.

NOTE: Most of these individuals also receive or are eligible to receive SSI and/or RSDI. Applications for SSI/RSDI are handled through the local Social Security office, not Scott County. Individuals may be eligible for the Medicare Savings Programs.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Residents of Dakota County who are eligible for SSI and are:

- Ages 65 and older
- Blind or have severely impaired vision
- Disabled and between the ages of 18 - 65
Languages: French; Romanian; Russian; Somali; Spanish; Thai; Vietnamese; interpreters available
Application Process: - Call for an application; mail or drop off an application to the Northern Service Center; visit website https://mnbenefits.mn.gov/ to apply and submit an application online

- Walk in to get an application at the Burnsville Workforce Center 2800 West County Road 42 Burnsville, MN 55337

- Walk in to get an application at the University of Minnesota Extension 4100 220th Street Farmington, MN 55024

- Walk in to get an application at the Western Service Center (Public Health or Social Services) 14955 Galaxie Avenue Apple Valley, MN 55124

Once application is received, a worker will call the applicant for a phone interview.
