Description
- Financial assistance for funeral expenses. Maximum issuance amount for burial services and expenses is $2,291. For separate cemetery expenses including the lot/opening or closing, the maximum issuance is $904. Generally a marker is not covered by burial assistance funds.

- The family or representatives of the deceased may use any funeral home of their choosing. They should advise the funeral home that they are seeking burial assistance from the County. A statement of Goods and Services is required from the funeral home/burial provider.

- Victims of a crime will be referred to the Victim Intervention Project Institute

- Burial assistance must be requested within 60 days of date of death. Burial assistance funds will not be issued after the fact if the bill has already been paid.
Program Fees: None
Documents Required: Assets of the deceased must be verified on the date of death and are considered available for burial; assets of parent(s) will be verified and considered when the decedent is a minor child; assets of spouses will be verified and considered for a married individual; all available resources will be considered including insurance payments, Social Security death benefit or VA funds if applicable; income statements such as benefits award notice, check stubs, court orders, and tax forms; resources such as bank account statements; certificates; life and medical insurance policies; photo ID; property tax statements; vehicle titles or registrations
