 Description
- The Burial/Funeral Assistance program will pay up to the county maximum payment of $3,000 directly to funeral providers depending on services needed and available funding.

- Financial assistance includes burial space, opening and closing of grave, professional services, casket/urn, vault and cremation (if selected). Assistance does not cover any other expenses such as obituaries, markers or flowers.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: - The deceased must have been a Hennepin County resident

- Available income of some responsible relatives, along with the value of the estate is considered when determining eligibility for this program

- Application must be submitted within 14 days of the date of death; the county will not reimburse payments already made

- Assets must be applied to the county maximum payment of $3,000; total cost of burial/funeral must not exceed $4,400
Application Process: Call for application or visit website. Legal next of kin must complete a Hennepin County application for burial/funeral assistance.
