Description
Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a nutrition program that assists pregnant women, new mothers, infants and young children to eat well, learn about nutrition and stay healthy. Many working and low-income families are eligible for WIC's benefits. The WIC Program provides:

- Nutrition assessment and feeding tips

- Breastfeeding advice and support

- Referrals to health and social services

- Vouchers for healthy foods (for example, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables and eggs)

Program Delivery
Eligibility: - Residents of Hennepin County, except residents of Bloomington, Edina, and Richfield, who are pregnant or breastfeeding, infants or children from one year old until fifth birthday

- Families that receive Medical Assistance, food support, MFIP, free or reduced school lunch, Head Start, fuel assistance or other assistance programs

- Working families that meet income requirements (a family of 4 earning as much as $60,000 per year may qualify)
Languages: Interpreters available
Application Process: - Call for prescreening, appointments and WIC location sites and hours

- Bloomington, Edina or Richfield residents must call and schedule an appointment with the Bloomington Health Department WIC Program

Documents Required: Acceptable ID (call for more information); proof of address and proof of income or eligibility for public assistance
