Eligibility:

Residents of Dakota County must meet a combination of eligibility requirements set by the Supplemental Security Income program or General Assistance program to qualify for assistance. There are also income and asset limits. Generally, the program serves:
- Older adults ages 65 and older
- People younger than age 65 who have a condition that limits their self-sufficiency. For example, it may be a physical or mental health disability, visual impairment or chemical dependency.

- Call for an application; email; mail or drop off an application to the Northern Service Center; visit website https://mnbenefits.mn.gov/ to apply and submit an application online

Once application is received, a worker will call the applicant for a phone interview.

Program Fees:

The individual's housing provider receives payments to pay for the individual's food, household supplies, rent, utilities and other necessities. Depending on the individual's income, the individual may have to pay a portion of the Housing Support housing rate directly to the housing provider.
