Description
|
TEMPORARY DISABILITY: Provides cash assistance. A disabled person who lives with a minor child as caretaker relative is ineligible for TDAP and should apply for TCA.
SERVICES:
1) SHORT-TERM DISABILITY BENEFITS: Provides up to 9 cash payments in a 36-month period to persons who are certified as medically unable to work for at least 3 months but not more than 11 months.
2) LONG-TERM DISABILITY BENEFITS: Assists people who have been assessed as medically unable to work for 12 months or longer must:
-- document the disability every 12 months
-- apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
-- be confirmed as disabled by the State Review Team
-- sign an agreement to repay TDAP payments received while the application for SSI is pending.

Eligibility
|
People with disabilities in financial need, ages 18 and older, with no minor dependents. Household income must be less than $215 a month regardless of household size. Low-income adults who are unemployed due to short-term disability (over a limited benefit period), long-term chronic disability, or those who have been certified as medically disabled by the State Review Team and are awaiting a decision on their federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) application.
