HOME OWNERSHIP: Provides several programs that assist who are people trying to find/purchase housing property.
PRE-PURCHASE COUNSELING: Provides information and guidance for households thinking about purchasing a home. Register by calling 410-313-6328 or emailing homebuyerclass@howardcountymd.gov
REHABILITATION LOANS: Provides loans to homeowners to repair their homes or bring them up to current standards. Loans can be made for sewer and water extensions, new roofs, heating systems or other uses to make a unit decent, safe, and sanitary.
SETTLEMENT DOWN PAYMENT LOAN PROGRAM: Offers loans of up to $40,000 for closing costs with an interest 2% lower than the prime rate. The home must be occupied by the borrower. Call for income eligibility and application process. Funds are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
MODERATE INCOME HOUSING UNIT (MIHU): Provides a zoning program that requires developers provide homes in certain districts to sell or rent to households of moderate income. Offers quality new and resale homes at reduced prices and reduced rents to eligible families. Sale prices range from approximately $250,000-$400,000.
FORECLOSURE PREVENTION: Offers foreclosure prevention mortgage assistance. The home must be located in Howard County and must be the owner's primary residence. Applicants must be at least two months behind in mortgage payments. See income guidelines below.
