Advises farmers on: - farm business management
- marketing
- production practices
- soil testing
- pest management
- land management information for beginning farmers and rural landowners who need assistance
Sponsors events to inform youth and adults about farming
Maintains a list of local community supported agriculture (CSA) programs, giving farmers an established market before the production season and consumers a weekly selection of just-harvested food
Serves as a regional navigator for The American Farmland Trusts' Farmland for a New Generation program (NYFarmlandFinder.org), connecting farmers seeking land and landowners who want to keep their land in farming. Community Horticulture - supports volunteer beautification efforts such as:
- Tompkins County Beautification Brigade
- City of Ithaca Citizen Pruners
- Master Composters
- Master Gardener Program
- provides services, including:
- community compost education
- home gardening classes
- written information
- advice on food/flower gardening and landscaping
- soil testing
- pest/plant identification services
Master Gardeners - coordinate the annual spring garden fair and plant sale
