- marketing
- production practices
- soil testing
- pest management
- land management information for beginning farmers and rural landowners who need assistance
Sponsors events to inform youth and adults about farming
Maintains a list of local community supported agriculture (CSA) programs, giving farmers an established market before the production season and consumers a weekly selection of just-harvested food
Collaborates on Finger Lakes LandLink website, http://www.fingerlakeslandlink.org, with listings of farmers needing access to land and landowners wanting their unused acreage farmed. Community Horticulture - supports volunteer beautification efforts such as:
- Tompkins County Beautification Brigade
- City of Ithaca Citizen Pruners
- Ithaca Children's Garden
- Master Gardener Program
- provides services, including:
- home gardening classes
- written information
- advice on food/flower gardening and landscaping
- soil testing
- pest/plant identification services
Master Gardeners - coordinate the annual spring garden fair and plant sale
