Description	2-1-1 Tompkins/Cortland handles all phone registrations for mobile distribution events in Tompkins County. Currently, one distribution in Freeville on the second Tuesday of each month. Registration begins one day prior, either online or by calling 2-1-1 or 877-211-8667. Distributes food to people in need through more than 160 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other hunger relief organizations six counties. Administers several direct service food distribution programs including the food "BackPack Program" and Mobile Food Pantry. BackPack Program requires very specific foods. Kid-friendly Nutritious: at least 8 items, 2 Proteins, 2 Grains, 2 Dairy & 2 Fruits or Vegetables Individually packaged, unbreakable Small and light enough to carry Shelf stable Easy to prepare, even without a stove (or in some cases a can opener) Mobile Food Pantry The Mobile Food Pantry program brings fresh produce, dairy products, and other food and grocery products directly to distribution sites where people need food. When the mobile food pantry truck arrives at a site, volunteers place the food on tables surrounding the truck. Clients are then able to "shop", choosing items that they need.
