Medicare is a national health insurance program. Those eligible for the program include people age 65 or older, some people under age 65, and people who have permanent kidney failure, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gerhig's Disease. Medicare also provides information, determines eligibility for Medicare program, furnishes claim numbers, and maintains directory of doctors accepting Medicare claims.
