Application Process	UPDATED 7-21-23 BY MANDY DOWDY: Any income eligible person living in Lauderdale, Colbert or Franklin counties needing utility assistance may call for an appointment at 256-764-5142, please listen carefully to the list of requirements. Or you may also obtain a PAPER APPLICATION packet, available under “SERVICES-UTILITY ASSISTANCE”, from our website at www.caanw.org. You may also pick up and drop off a paper application at the office in the county you currently live in.
Documents Required	Those given an appointment must bring the following information with them: A) Valid AL Picture ID for Head of Household B) SS cards for ALL household members. NO COPIES C) Proof of ALL income in household from all sources D) Copies of ALL bills paid monthly E) Original utility bill showing proof of current electric service F) Rental lease agreement and last receipt of payment. If you do not have a lease agreement, you must provide a hand written statement from your landlord that includes monthly rent amount, total amount owed, and his/her contract information G) All recent mortgage documents including payment vouchers H) Any eviction or foreclosure notices if applicable
