Description
|
The Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students (DHOH) provides instructional support and services for students with hearing disabilities, birth through age 21. Auditory/Oral and Total Communication are the two communication methodologies used for instruction. Parents and Infants receive instruction in the home. Toddlers through high school receive instruction from certified teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing in their boundary comprehensive school.
Audiological rehabilitation services may include: - Interpretation of audiological test results to determine type, nature and degree of hearing disability.
- Assessment of functional listening skills.
- Consultation with IEP and 504 teams as the qualified examiner in determination of educational impact resulting from hearing related disability.
- Selection, fitting and monitoring of hearing assistive technology.
- Consultation with parents, classroom teachers, DHOH teachers and other PGCPS staff regarding impact of the hearing disability in the educational setting, communication needs and appropriate accommodations to support accessibility across school environments.
