Description OVERVIEW: Provides a food pantry and financial assistance to residents of Anne Arundel County living within the catchment area.

1) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides emergency funds to help prevent utililty turn-offs (BG&E and water bills), legal evictions, and prescriptions. For BGE turn-offs the client must first get a referral from the Anne Arundel Community Action Partnership, must be MEAP eligible and have gone to DSS to apply for any programs that they are eligible for including MEAP. Must sign in by 1PM. Clients may receive funds once every 12 months for utility and eviction assistance, and once evry 3 months for prescriptions. Must present ID, proof of address, birth certificates for everyone in the home and social security cards for everyone the home. Will provide up to $150 towards a bill. Can also provide referrals to additional community resources, but individuals must have all required documents. No more than 30 people a day are assisted in financial assistance.

2) FOOD PANTRY: Provides non-perishable food items to individuals in need. Picture ID, proof of residence, birth certificates and Social Security cards for family members are required. No referral is needed. Applicants who are eligible for DSS must apply there first and show proof to NCEON (must wait 21 days after you receive your monthly food stamps). Formula and adult supplements are sometimes available. 1PM is the deadline for food sign up. No more than 30 people a day are assisted in the food pantry.

Volunteer Requirements 18 and older.
Volunteer Duties Assist in screening, office duties, and pantry. In house training required. The entire program is run by volunteers.
