Description
|
CASH ASSISTANCE: Provides a monthly cash benefit to disabled adults who have no minor children in the home. Benefits are accessed through the Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system, which is similar to using a bankcard or ATM card.

Eligibility
|
Applicants must be disabled and have no children under 18 living with them. A doctor must complete a medical form stating the applicant cannot work for at least three months. Applicants with long-term conditions must apply for other benefits such as Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). If the applicant has a substance use problem a payee must handle his/her Temporary Disability benefit.

Application Process
|
An application and interview must be completed to determine eligibility. Applications are taken online @ mymdthink.maryland.gov or on a walk-in basis Monday thru Friday from 8AM-4PM each workday. Internet applications may be filed at www.mydhr.net. A follow-up interview is required.

Proof of identity; Proof of residency; Proof of disability; Social Security number; Proof of earned and unearned income for the past four weeks; Proof of shelter and utility costs; Proof of any cash and non-cash assets; Proof of child support payments made.
