Resource Details
Alternate Name Carroll County DSS, SNAP
Description FOOD STAMPS/SNAP: Offers free food benefits provided monthly to eligible low-income households that allows them to purchase food from participating stores. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) defines a household as a group of people who live together and buy food and prepare meals together. Applicants need to meet certain income thresholds in order to receive benefits. The gross income, before taxes, and certain deductions will determine the amount received and it may not cover enough food for a month. Benefits are received on an independence card similar to a bank debit card to access benefits. To check the balance of the EBT card or request a replacement card, call 1-800-997-2222, not the local office.

Applications can be completed online, paper applications can be faxed into the office or in person at the local Department of Social Services, https://mydhrbenefits.dhr.state.md.us/dashboardClient/#/dssMap.

Please encourage faxing if the person is able to use that option.
