ADULT PROTECTION: Investigates reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation of vulnerable adults and arranges for services to remedy the situation. Risk factors are identified and service plans developed to prevent further risk of harm to the adult.
DEFINITION: Abuse is any physical injury sustained by cruel or inhumane treatment as a result of a malicious act by another person. Neglect is willful deprivation of food, clothing, medical treatment, rehabilitative therapy, shelter, supervision or daily hygiene or grooming needs. Exploitation is the misuse of a vulnerable adult, their money or property.
