Description
|
OVERVIEW: Provides eligible individuals with services for screening, diagnosis, and treatment of breast and cervical cancer.
SERVICES:
1) SCREENING: Eligible individuals are referred to locally contracted provider offices to receive no-cost pap tests and breast exams as well as mammograms. Staff will set up the appointment and complete all necessary paperwork. Can provide transportation to and from screening appointments
2) DIAGNOSTIC AND TREATMENT: Offers referrals to locally contracted provider offices or treatment facilities for those women who need further diagnostic testing to rule out breast or cervical cancer, and will cover cost of treatment if breast or cervical cancer is diagnosed. Services and treatment are provided at no-cost to income eligible residents.
NOTE: The Allegany County Breast and Cervical Cancer Program now serves women in Allegany, Garrett and Washington Counties. Women do not need to travel to Allegany County for services. They can receive services in their home county, and the Allegany County Health Department will cover the cost.

Eligibility
|
Must reside in Maryland, and meet income guidelines. For breast screening services, must be a woman age 40-64. Women 65 and older may qualify for breast screenings if they are receiving Medicare Part A only or do not have any insurance. For cervical screening services, must be a woman age 21-64. Women age 19 and older may be eligible for assistance with diagnostic and treatment costs to rule out breast or cervical cancer, or to pay for treatment if diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer.

|
No documentation needed for the screening program. Proof of income and residency is required for any diagnostic or treatment services. Call for details.
