Description OVERVIEW: Provides health benefits for children up to age 19, and pregnant women of any age who meet the income guidelines. MCHP enrollees obtain care from a variety of Managed Care Organizations (MCO's) through the Maryland Health Choice Program. Apply online at https://www.marylandhealthconnection.gov/.

MCHP PREMIUM: Persons not eligible for free health care services through MCHP, may be eligible for MCHP Premium, a low monthly premium to purchase health coverage.  

You can apply for MCHP through Maryland Health Connection.   If you or your child is found eligible for MCHP, you can select an MCO right away.

You can also call 855-MHC-8572 (855-642-8572) to apply over the phone.  You can also visit the Health Department, Department of Social Services, or Connector Entity to get help with applying for coverage.

NOTE: Children with insurance or who have voluntarily dropped insurance may not be eligible.

Eligibility Those eligible for MCHP are uninsured children under age 19, whose household modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) is at or below 211% of the federal poverty level (FPL) for their family size.
Languages Offered Spanish (if arrangements are made in advance).
Program Fees None if eligible. MCHP Premium is $53-$66 per month per family.
Application Process Applications available by mail, Local Health Dept., school-based health centers, Head Start, WIC Centers, Web, Libraries, DSS
