Description

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Assists families to prevent or resolve crisis situations. Benefits are limited to one grant in a 12-month period to families with children 21 and younger, and/or a senior 65 or older and/or a person with serious illness/disease in the home. The major crises averted by emergency grants are evictions and emergency fuel needs. Also assists with water bill turn off notices. Customers are referred to Family Support Services for assistance with the repair or replacement of essential appliances. Does occasionally assist those in public housing/Section 8.

EAFC grant can be used for security deposits/first month’s rent IF the person needs assistance because they lost their home due to eviction, the landlord lost the home to foreclosure, or they are homeless and are residing in a shelter.  It cannot be used for security deposits/first month's rent for persons with Section 8 vouchers.
