Alternate Name
Baltimore City DSS, Emergency Assistance to Families with Children
Description
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: EAFC is available for families to prevent or resolve crisis situations. Benefits are limited to one grant in a 24-month period to families with a child birth-12, and/or a senior 65 or older and/or a person with serious illness/disease in the home. No one in the household can be receiving SSI. The major crises averted by emergency grants are evictions and emergency fuel needs. Customers are referred to Family Support Services for assistance with the repair or replacement of essential appliances. Does occasionally assist those in public housing/section 8.
* EAFC grant can not be used for security deposits/first month’s rent (In most counties it can – but not the city).
