Description
|
HEALTH CARE: Professional nurses check all student immunization records and insures immunization compliance with Maryland law, administers medication and medical treatments with a physicians order, performs health screenings for communicable diseases, hearing and vision, and blood pressure checks. Also provides health counseling and teaching in the health room and classroom. Identifies students with special health care needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the parent and the student's physician, and instructs the school staff with the appropriate information. Provides cafeteria workers with student's special nutritional needs such as allergies and special diets, offers home visits as needed to assist with the care of a student, serves on school committees, assists with planning for the safety of students with special health needs, provides wellness activities for the staff and serves as a liaison to the medical community.
