Description UPDATE 3/20/23: Households who need to recover funds stolen from their Electronic Benefits card can visit  https://dhs.maryland.gov/ebt-reimbursement/. Those whose benefits were stolen Oct 1, 2022-Feb 28, 2023, must file a claim by May 31, 2023. Those whose benefits were stolen March 1, 2023, and thereafter have 45 days from the date benefits were discovered stolen to submit a claim. The maximum amount an individual can receive in reimbursement is up to two times the regular monthly SNAP and/or cash allotment, even if the amount that was stolen is greater.

Individuals should receive a notice any time there is a change to the current benefit level. Individuals can access the notices via the myMDTHINK.maryland.gov consumer portal. If a household has experienced a loss of income or an increase in housing costs, childcare fees, or child support payments since your last SNAP recertification, please immediately report those changes in person at the local Department of Social Services, by telephone, or online using the myMDTHINK account. If a person is disabled or 60 years of age or older,  they should also report any medical expenses over $35/month. These changes may result in an increase in your monthly SNAP benefit amount.

**Unused benefits will remain on EBT cards for up to nine months.

SNAP: Individuals who need to change their SNAP benefits information should contact the case manager at the local office. To order EBT cards/replacement cards, the customer should contact 800-997-2222 or use the online EBT website https://www.connectebt.com/mdebtclient/

Individuals who lost benefits or have had other issues can request an appeal hearing, for more information visit https://dhs.maryland.gov/documents/DHR%20Forms/FIA%20Forms/English/Other-Forms/3%20Request%20Appeal%20for%20Hearing/DHS_FIA_334-Request-For-Fair-Hearing-4.1.2021-fillable.pdf

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps, helps low-income households buy the food they need for good health.  Applicants must file an application, be interviewed, and meet all financial and technical eligibility factors prior to issuance of SNAP benefits. Some people who have little or no money may qualify for Expedited SNAP benefits right away. Individuals must have an interview and verify identity.
