Description Provides personal assistance to self-represented persons in family law cases. Provides legal information and education, not legal strategy and advice. Services operated under the supervision of an attorney. Services include:
  • Information about establishing parentage and establish, change, and enforce child and spousal support
  • Distributes court forms including voluntary declarations of paternity
  • Help with completing the forms
  • Preparing support schedules based upon statutory guidelines
  • Assistance on child support issues
  • Referrals to local child support agency, family court services, and other community resources
  • Assistance in filing for a divorce and in finalizing divorce (obtaining a final judgment)
  • Information on how to proceed with summary dissolution (how to obtain an uncontested divorce)
  • Assistance in initiating and responding to Orders to Show Cause and Notice of Motion for issues other than child and spousal support. Includes how to get interim orders for control of property, use of vehicles, assignment of responsibility for the payment of debts, etc.
  • Assistance in initiating and responding to Change of Venue Motions
  • Assistance with guardianships
  • Assistance for landlords in unlawful detainer (eviction) cases
Also provides free classes regarding:
  • Petition to establish parentage (and fee waiver)
  • Petition for custody and visitation (and fee waiver)
  • Divorce/legal separation/nullification of marriage (and fee waiver)
  • Requests for orders for custody, visitation, child support, spousal support. Includes with/without emergency temporary orders.
