StepUP for Youth Jobs, the Humboldt County Workforce Development youth services program, is designed to help eligible youth engage with training and work experience programs. StepUP has youth program operators (YPOs) in five regions of our rural county. Youth program operators live and work in their own region, creating relationships with local youth and employers, in order to serve youth in the community in which they live. Work experience opportunities, including paid and unpaid volunteer and employee positions. Help getting promotions Help paying fees associated with becoming employed (drivers license, birth certificate, fingerprinting) Educational: Tutoring and academic support connections to GED prep and testing Supportive Financial assistance for tuition, materials, and books Help registering for college or community coursework Help with finaid and scholarship applications Internships and volunteer positions to complement studies Training: On the job training Certificate courses Links to occupational skills training such as office management and bookkeeping Training, apprenticeships in the building, constructions, welding and mechanics trades.
