Provides safety for children at risk of (or currently) being abused or neglected. Responds to reports of suspected child abuse. Child abuse is defined by California law as: 1. Non-accidental physical injury of a child. 2. Sexual abuse or exploitation of a child. 3. Willful cruelty or unjustifiable punishment of a child. 4. Neglect of a child. Neglect includes failure to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter, medical care or supervision.
