Friendship Donations Network (FDN) rescues 10,000 to 14,000 pounds of unsellable, perishable and non-perishable foods (including fruits, vegetables, dairy, bakery, deli, grocery products and other merchandise) seven days a week from local markets, bakeries, restaurants and local college dining halls. Perishable food is distributed within 3 hours of being picked up. FDN also cleans good clothes, furniture, computers, appliances and other items as needed. A monthly report on location, day and time of daily food distributions is available. Fifteen primary hunger programs and non-profit human service agencies benefit weekly. In addition, 20-plus secondary programs receive the excess from pantries that are unable to distribute all their donated food. All the pantries serve low-income, low wage people.
