Clients, volunteers and SCS staff work together to run this program. Provides a comprehensive array of recovery-related services to adults who have a severe persistent mental illness (SPMI). Services include: - Therapeutic rehabilitation services to people being discharged from a psychiatric hospital and those at risk of hospitalization. Teaches skills training and independent living instruction.
- Staff-facilitated group therapy. Provides assistance with communication skills, relationship skills, and other topics to improve interpersonal effectiveness.
- A work-ordered day that helps provide/teach structure. Clients have “jobs,” such as vacuuming, cleaning, doing laundry. Serves two meals a day.
Clients who graduate become mentors and can help run groups and activities, such as arts and crafts classes, stress management and social games. The center also offers various recreational activities including a once-a-month outing. There is also a new drop-in center in which a person can “drop in” and participate in an activity. | |
