Description

Project GO, Inc. provides utility bill assistance through the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) for income-eligible households in Placer and Nevada counties.

The program helps reduce heating and cooling costs with a once-per-year payment toward eligible utility bills.

Services include:

  • A one-time utility payment (available once every 12 months) for gas, electric, propane, or firewood
  • Financial help for current and/or past due bills, including 48-hour shut-off notices
  • Annual assistance amount of up to $1,000, based on household income and energy burden (amount subject to change)
  • Phone-based application process followed by mailed packet with instructions for submitting documentation
APPLYING FOR ASSISTANCE (HEAP and or ECIP) To apply for annual or emergency utility assistance through HEAP or ECIP, please call (888) 524-5705 and follow the prompts that lead to the correct mailbox corresponding to your need (see below). All calls are returned in the order they are received, within 24 - 48 hours. The mailbox only accepts up to 40 calls per day. If the mailbox is full, you will need to try again after 9am the following day.
  • When prompted to make a selection, choose from the following:
  • PRESS 1 If you reside in Placer County.
  • PRESS 2 If you reside in Nevada County.

Additional notes:

  • Residents of Placer and Nevada counties must apply through Project GO
  • The program serves utility customers throughout both counties, including the Truckee area
  • Only one assistance payment allowed per household, per year

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Applicant must be age 18+. Must qualify as low income to meet qualifications. Utility payment assistance and wood/oil/propane assistance is offered once per year. Adults Teens Families Females Males
Availability: Up to 1 time every 1 year(s).

Application Process: LIHEAP Assistance - applications for Placer and Nevada County residents are currently being accepted over the phone. Weatherization Assistance - contact 1-800-655-7705.
Utiility Payment Assistance, Financial Assistance iin the event of a utility payment crisis, or Wood/Oil/Propane Assistance - contact 1-888-524-5705.
Program Fees: Free
Documents Required: Verification of income, most recent utility bill, and a Social Security Number (SSN). Application must include every household member. SSN is only asked to be provided for the household member (age 18+) who is completing the application.
Volunteering: Volunteer opportunities are available.
Volunteer requirements: Financial Background, i.e. CPA, Banker, Finance Director
Volunteer duties: Board of Directors quarterly meetings
