Program: Racial Justice Project

Agency: Center for Children's Advocacy

Resource Number: 14909124
Description

With the support of a national grant, the Center is working to reduce disproportionate minority contact and school expulsions for youth in Connecticut’s poorest cities. The Center is partnering with the Center for Children’s Law and Policy, a national organization with expertise in reducing disproportionate minority contact (DMC), and with local and state agencies in Bridgeport and Hartford to advocate for changes to the juvenile justice and education systems to reduce DMC within Connecticut’s juvenile  justice system, where Black and Latino youth are treated more punitively than are white youth.
