Program: Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

Agency: Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services

Resource Number: 170645
Alternate name: Anne Arundel County DSS, SNAP

Description

FOOD STAMPS/SNAP: Offers a monthly benefit to eligible low-income household for the purchase of eligible food items from participating stores. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) defines a household as a group of people who live together and buy food and prepare meals together. Applicants need to meet certain income thresholds in order to receive benefits. The gross income, before taxes, and certain deductions will determine the amount received and it may not cover enough food for a month.

Note: Benefits are received on an independence card like a bank debit card to access benefits. To check the balance of the EBT card or request a replacement card, call 1-800-997-2222, not the local office.

Applications can be completed online, https://benefits.maryland.gov/home/#/ or in person at the local Department of Social Services, https://benefits.maryland.gov/home/#/find-local-office
