 Description
ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES: Offers assistance to adults who lack the mental or physical capacity to sufficiently provide for their daily needs in protecting their health, safety and welfare, and are being maltreated. Persons are considered maltreated if they lack food, clothing, shelter, or essential care. DSS investigates the reports within 30 days and arranges for services to remedy the situation. If no family member or individual is available to fulfil the role of guardian, DSS will be appointed guardian for persons under 65. Area Agency on Aging will be guardian for persons ages 65 and older.
