Description
CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES: Provides a response either through an investigation or alternative response for allegations of physical or sexual abuse and neglect of children under age 18. Legal mandates require children in neglect cases to be seen within 5 days and in abuse cases within 24 hours. Provides emergency services as needed, including removal of children, court involvement, counseling with the family to rectify the situation or helping the family to make an alternative plan of care for their children.

Eligibility: Children under the age of 18, who have allegedly been neglected or abused.
Languages: Language Line.
Application Process: To report child abuse or neglect, call during business hours and follow the prompts. After 4:30PM, on weekends, or on holidays, please call the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office at 410-228-4141.
