Description
FOSTER CARE: Provides placements  in foster or group homes are court-ordered or through voluntary parent agreement, depending on the nature of the case. Foster parents are expected to work cooperatively with DSS and the birth parents toward goal of reuniting the family. Returning home is the primary focus.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
-Are over 21 years of age
-Are in good physical, mental, and emotional health
-Meet legal requirements for background checks, housing safety, space and equipment
-Regularly participate in training to provide the best possible care and to meet the unique needs of children in care.
-Possess the skills, attitudes and stamina to effectively deal with the many behaviors and feelings displayed by children and youth who may have been neglected and/or abused.

 FOSTER HOME LICENSING: A program which licenses families providing 24-hour care for non-related children. Once approved, foster parents receive board payments, and a Medical Assistance card for the support of the foster child.
