Description
Statewide children's legal services agency promotes the rights and interests of low income children and youth whose care is provided by Connecticut's judicial, child welfare, health, mental health, education, and juvenile justice systems. Legal assistance and advocacy is provided to individual children for issues involving abuse, neglect, placement, education, immigration, racial justice, juvenile justice, homelessness, special education, mental and physical health. Center also provides administrative and legal advocacy on behalf of groups of children and functions as a legal resource center for lawyers representing children. Website provides on-line access to recent cases, legislation, and a variety of resources for attorneys. Center cannot represent children who already have a lawyer or adults who are concerned about a child. Representation is for children and youth only, or for children who are part of a "family with service needs" as designated by juvenile court.
